Scenario 1: Your city has had an outbreak of COVID-19 cases. In response, your county’s health authority has issued an order mandating that all adults and children over the age of 2 wear face masks in all public indoor and outdoor areas. This public health order has caused a deep divide in public opinion. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper either in support of or against the face mask order to try and persuade the public to better understand the issue based upon evidence-based public health resources. Keep in mind that this is not meant to be a political debate, but should instead be focused on the public health element. Remember that the audience of a letter to the editor is the public, so be sure to keep the terminology simple enough that all populations can understand it.

Scenario 2: Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper defending fluoridation of water to the general public. Why is water fluoridation important to people in your community?
